The vocabulary of booking massages over a long stay

• Long stay

  A long stay is any visit to Amsterdam measured in weeks or months rather than nights: a posting, a sabbatical, a research term or a season of remote work.

• Outcall

  Outcall means the therapist travels to where you are staying, a furnished flat, a serviced apartment or a hotel room; the house keeps no premises at all.

• Arrival window

  The arrival window is the forty to sixty minutes between a confirmed booking and her knock at your door, the same in every part of central Amsterdam.

• Deposit

  The deposit is half the fee, paid before she sets out, on seven kinds of booking including every first booking and anything arranged over a day ahead.

• Balance on arrival

  The balance is the part of the fee not paid ahead: half on a booking with a deposit, all of it on a returning guest's same-day hour or two in the city.

• Cancellation and refunds

  What a cancellation costs depends on the notice alone: nothing over a day ahead, half the deposit inside the last day, all of it once she is on her way.

• False bookings

  A false booking is one placed under a borrowed name or number, as a joke, or followed by a no-show after either; an ordinary missed appointment is not one.

• Overnight

  An overnight is an eight hour block at EUR 1,250 for one guest with one therapist, always with half ahead, and on a long stay it is kept for an occasion.

• Twenty-one or over

  Everyone who books, and everyone present at the address, must be twenty-one or over, and a photo document may be asked for at the door on any visit.

• Same-day booking

  A same-day booking is one requested for later the same day; for a returning guest, one or two hours at a city address is then paid entirely at the door.

• Returning guest

  A returning guest is anyone the house has looked after before, and exactly one rule changes with it: a same-day hour or two in the city is paid on arrival.

• Booking thread

  The booking thread is the written conversation where each booking is agreed, the deposit details appear and any change is asked for, first message to last.

• Peak date

  A peak date is a day of heavy demand in the city, such as King's Day, Pride or the Amsterdam Dance Event, when every booking carries half the fee ahead.

• Rate matrix

  The rate matrix is the single table of fees, set by two questions: one therapist or two, and one guest or a couple, from an hour to an eight hour overnight.

• Credit

  Credit is a deposit held against a later date rather than repaid, used after a genuine disruption, or when the house cannot keep a booking and you choose it.
